January

  • Jan 19, 2004 - Froth-Bite's anniversary.
  • Jan 20, 2007 - Illusion Subs's anniversary.

Feburary

  • Feb 01, 2008 - The Japanese Government's Media Content Task Force releases proposals addressing fansubbing and video-sharing.
  • Feb 22, 2004 - mIRC-X's suffers DDoS attack. Migration to Rizon begins.

March

  • Mar 07, 2002 - AnimeOne's anniversary.

April

  • Apr 04, 2021 - NovaWorks Fansubs anniversary.
  • Apr 04, 2004 - AnimeJunkies officially disbands and shuts down.
  • Apr 24, 2003 - Aniverse suffers DDoS attack. Migration to mIRC-X begins.
  • Apr XX, 2018 - Cloudflare terminated its services to Nyaa. According to Cloudflare, "The pirate site tried to interfere with and thwart the operation of the company's abuse reporting systems.".[1]

May

  • May 04, 2022 - FansubWiki Discord server created.
  • May 08, 2018 - Kaleido's anniversary.
  • May 11, 2006 - Official launch date of www.fansubbers.org, the predecessor of FansubWiki.
  • May 18, 2017 - 9volt Fansubs' anniversary.
  • May 01, 2017 - Nyaa domain names (.se, .eu and .org) were deactivated, later confirmed that the owner took them down voluntarily.[1]

June

  • June XX, 2006 - Crunchyroll, a video streaming site, begins showing anime fansubs online from its headquarters in San Francisco.
  • Jun 13, 2007 - Jason "Nessun" Downey, owner of Rizon, is sentenced to 12 months in prison for running a botnet in 2004.

July

  • July 05, 2008 - Anime Expo 2008 holds first Industry Roundtable event discussing fansubbing, piracy and the anime industry.
  • July 09, 2006 - Kryptolus announces the discontinuation of Sabbu's development.
  • July 15, 2008 - chibi fansub's anniversary.

August

  • Aug 03, 2002 - Anime-Kraze's anniversary.
  • Aug 21, 2005 - Spore-Frog, a widely respected distro, passes away in car accident, aged 20.
  • Aug 25, 2003 - Shinsen-Subs's anniversary.

September

  • Sept 01, 2009 - ADV Films, after its bankuruptcy in May, closes down and sells its assets to 5 different companies.
  • Sept 30, 2010 - Eclipse Productions drops Amagami SS and shuts down after 5 years of fansubbing.

October

  • Oct 15, 2008 - Crustol returns from retirement with ANBU, releasing Tytania episode 01.
  • Oct 25, 2006 - Atavus-Fansubs's anniversary.

November

  • Nov 09, 2021 - FansubWiki's anniversary.
  • Nov 11, 2004 - Crustol, record holder as of 2009 for most translations per year (168), retires in 2004 after four years.
  • Nov 12, 2002 - Scarywater serves its first fansub on Bittorrent: Hikaru no Go episode 53.

December

  • Dec 7, 2004 - Media Factory Incident. First Cease and Desist (C&D) letter sent directly from a Japanese studio.
  • Dec 9, 2002 - DALnet suffers DDoS attack. Migration to Aniverse/ETG begins.
  • Dec 13, 2007 - Arthur Smith of GDH International (GONZO) publishes an open letter to fansubs & the anime industry.
  • Dec 19, 2008 - Froth-bite and Ureshii make their first release together under the new merger, Frostii.
  • Dec 26, 2002 - AnimeSuki's anniversary.
